The Revolver Theatre  Festival  from the team of Up In The Air Theatre celebrated the launch of their  6th year in the cool new Hootsuite Offices last March 17th.   A few quotes from the night were "It was unexpected and unconventional and you would be missing out if you didnt see at least one of these performances", said Greme Walhalla, a Langara student.

"The ambience was welcoming and not your regular theatre crowd...it was super-inclusive and non-threatening", said Curtis Tweedie, Theatre Creator and Sound Designer. From guys in suits juggling bowling pins to meditation using a blend of audio and video technology and  a marriage told in the form of a 10 round boxer fight,  the previews looked to be an interdisciplinary showcase of exciting new work from local Vancouver and Canadian artists.

I had a chance to briefly chat with Artistic Producer David Mott about the festival and he said he was really excited about their partnership with Urban Ink and the creation of their new show "Silence".  Other local companies include  Rice and Beans and Delinquent Theatre, plus some pieces curated from across Canada.

"Many of our participants go on to perform their work at the International Push Festival and ReVolver gives them the opportunity to showcase their work before it goes on to other things" Mott said.

The festival runs May 11- 22 at The Cultch 1895 Venables Street. More information on the festival can be found here.
