Ballet BC, led by accomplished artistic director, Medhi Walerski, led an opening season performance that was popular with the audience. The opening night performance of Ballet BC featured three works. The first, SWAY, was choreographed by Walerski, featured seven highly energetic and talented dancers. The music was composed by Adrien Cronet. The dance was emotional and reflective with minimalist lighting to showcase the movement and talent of the dancers. The second piece in the evening was LILA, choreographed by Sofia Nappi in collaboration with the dancers. Music was composed by Ciaran Morahan. All dancers in the company were present and active in the performance which was highly energetic. The only drawback to the performance was the bleak stage and dark colors which set a low mood and did not allow for proper visual enjoyment of the talented dancers. The third piece of the evening was BOLERO X, choreographed by Shahar Binyamini. The featured music was Bolero M. 81 by Maurice Ravel performed by Berlin Philharmoniker and Pierre Boulez. The full cast of dancers was colorful and expressive with additional dancers complementing the Ballet BC corps. The lighting was uplifting and showcased well the dancers immense talent. The performance commanded a standing ovation and was the overwhelming audience favorite of the dance evening repertoire. Ballet BC continues to experiment with modern dance and attract a loyal audience of dance aficionados. The performance of Trilogy was another step forward in Ballet BC dance talent and audience enjoyment. © 2025 Ross Michael Pink |
