Nestled in the heart of Granville Island lies the quaint Improv Centre where the laughs are loud and the energy is captivating! To kickstart this Winter season, their new Improv set gets us merry with a Holiday theme and cheer.

With a mad scientist trying to find the perfect cure for the Holidays, we are also introduced to Brandy, a ‘grinchy’ real estate agent whose tagline is “ho, ho, NO!” As she navigates through the time machine with the scientist to uncover the past and present, the audience was filled with laughter and reminded of the true meaning of Christmas.

The cast was vibrant and pulled in the audience with cues for the next prompt as is typical of Improv. While this was a different take of Improv with fewer audience cues, the plot was well placed to ensue laughter.

The set was well designed with a holiday theme backdrop and the sound effects from the producers were timed well to play into the ‘off-the-cuff’ comments by the actors. In addition, the costumes brought the humour to life, such as Brandy’s mother who wore a wig and robe that was reminiscent of the British show Absolutely Fabulous.

If you are yearning to get into the Holidays cheer, coupled with laughter, head down to Granville Island! This event is a “ho, ho, YASSS!”
